News from Warwick selection centre

The "wanting and waiting" from last night worked!

I felt the selection centre (especially the written component) had gone quite badly, plus UCAS hadn't sent me a status update email; but following on from my daily ucas track checking ritual this afternoon there was a conditional offer from Warwick - YAY .....and NAY

YAY because i really quite liked the campus feel of the uni, i've never lived outside of london before, its another option, and plus theres the benefits of a 4 year GEP course to consider, but... NAY as its going to be really tough deciding between Barts 5 and Warwick 4 year courses..... and theres still the wait to hear from the kcl waiting list (though i know my chances of getting an offer from the list are extremely slim!).

Theres a lot to consider, with lots of factors to take into account; i obviously really like london, but a shorter and cheaper course could be better financially, but then again i'm not sure if i can get use to living out of a city... i know i'll be dwelling on this over the next few days!

Why is yours conditional?
I got a conditional offer too but it only says get a 2:1

You can wait till June for KCL right?

If I were in your position I would go to Warwick just because it will be with other graduates not people 3 years younger. I've never lived outside a big city either but I would choose Gibbet Hill over East London.

Hey well done! Go for the GEP, you'll be with people who in your position and age - and you have the financial benefits (not to mention time saving) of the GEP course.

Well done!

Hey sengy and anon thanks for the input - any input is good as im finding it hard to decide.. !!

hi anonymous, congrats on your offer, are you going to firm it?

Weirdly, my offer is conditional on an academic reference .. which is odd, seeing as i already graduated.

Im still not sure, i suppose the east end does have its pros too, with the hospital being re-vamped, and the olympic games held near it. But warwick was actually a lot nicer than what i had expected - and being with people of my age and position would make it easier.

though financially i think they'll both work out to be the same.

Hmm, didn't you send a ref with your UCAS?

I think I'm going to follow sengcheek to the IC GEP.. well I didn't apply to Barts at all but if you got a good impression of them then go for it. Would you rather graduate in 2013 or 2014? One downside of Warwick I heard from my friends there is that you need to be in for 8.30 on some (most?) days.. 8.15 for the interview was ok but I don't know if I could do that every day... they also recommended a car, which I don't have.

My referee must have submitted a reference so i'm unsure what they mean, i will probably give them a call on monday just to double check the conditions with them.

Definately go for IC gep, you would be silly not to considering your issue with the car of warwick (i read something along the lines of gp placements being 40miles away.....!), and of course studying in london has its perks. Though i don't think its as simple of graduating a year earlier, more a worry of whether i will be able to keep up with the pace of the course.

Good luck with your course!
